NEWSPAPER
ARTICLE ASSIGNMENT:
1. You are to create a newspaper article summarizing the events
of your detective diary entries. 2. Your newspaper article will be published in
the local newspaper THE RIVIER REPORTER.
3. In your newspaper article you need to…
a)
Introduce the topic (What the initial
crime was, and when the case was solved, etc.)
b)
Include what details led up to the
solving of the crime. What data did you record in your detective diary that was
very important in helping you solve
your crime? What clues did you find? What evidence can you include?
c)
Include one photograph of either
evidence, the criminal, the crime scene, etc.
d)
Your conclusion ends the story with NEW related info:
Ex.
Jordan Pettyson will appear in the Supreme Court of France on March 15, 2016.
Until then, Pettyson will be under house arrest to monitor activity.
FORMATTING
THE ASSIGNMENT:
1.
Make sure paragraph spacing is set at
After: 0pt and Single Spacing.
2.
Choose centered text (ctrl + e)
3.
Choose the font style “Old English
Text” for your newspaper name, and “Cambria Math” for the remainder of the
article.
4.
Choose Font size 14 for name of city @
top of page (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan)
5.
Press “Enter” and choose font size 28.
Write the name of the newspaper in “THE RIVIER REPORTER”.
6.
Change font size to 11. Change
justification to Left (Ctrl +L) Type in the date. Press tab twice.
7.
Write in the website for the Rivier
Reporter (www.rivierreporternews.blogspot.ca).
Press tab 4x. Write $1.50 (cost of newspaper) Press Enter Twice.
8.
Press the PAGE LAYOUT tab and click on COLUMNS.
Click on “more columns” and choose TWO
COLUMNS and choose the “from this
point forward” option. Two columns should appear on your screen.
9.
Change font size to 20. Write YOUR TITLE here. Before you
click enter to write who the article is by, change font size to 8.
10. Write
“Article by YOUR NAME and WHERE you
are writing from”
11. Change
font size to 12. Begin writing your article!
12. BUT FIRST…
be warned that the beginning of each paragraph must be indented. GO TO PAGE LAYOUT and click on PARAGRAPH. Click on SPECIAL and choose FIRST LINE and set the indent at 0.5cm.
13. REMEMBER
you must insert a photo and describe its connection to the case using a text
box.
14. Save
work as NEWSPAPER ARTICLE, LAST NAME,
FIRST LETTER OF FIRST NAME.
15. Print
off a rough draft for Miss R to edit.
16. ONLY
HAND IN ASSIGNMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN PROOF-READ PLEASE.
