INSTRUCTIONS:

1. OPEN BLANK POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
2. SAVE AS “LAST NAME, FIRST LETTER OF FIRST NAME, POWERPOINT PRACTICE 2 LAYOUT”
3. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TEN SLIDES IN TOTAL (ADD MORE SLIDES BY CLICKING “NEW SLIDE”).
4. GO TO DESIGN, FORMAT BACKGROUND AND CHOOSE THE GRADIENT OPTION FOR BACKGROUND. CHOOSE COLOURS OF YOUR CHOICE. CLICK APPLY TO ALL.
5. ON SLIDE ONE, SELECT TITLE SLIDE AS YOUR LAYOUT.
6. ON SLIDE TWO, SELECT TITLE AND CONTENT AS YOUR LAYOUT.
7. ON SLIDE THREE, SELECT SECTION HEADER AS YOUR LAYOUT.
8. ON SLIDE FOUR, SELECT TWO CONTENT AS YOUR LAYOUT.
9. ON SLIDE FIVE, SELECT COMPARISON AS YOUR LAYOUT.
10. ON SLIDE SIX, SELECT TITLE ONLY AS YOUR LAYOUT.
11. ON SLIDE SEVEN, SELECT BLANK AS YOUR LAYOUT. USE WORDART TO INSERT TEXT ONTO THE SLIDE.
12. ON SLIDE EIGHT, SELECT CONTENT WITH CAPTION AS YOUR LAYOUT.
13. ON SLIDE NINE, SELECT PICTURE WITH CAPTION AS YOUR LAYOUT.
14. ON SLIDE TEN,  SELECT TITLE ONLY AS YOUR LAYOUT.
15. USE THE PRINTED OUT SLIDE-GUIDE TO INSERT THE CORRECT TEXT INTO THE CORRECT BOXES IN YOUR POWERPOINT.
16. SAVE AND SUBMIT TO THE POWERPOINT PRACTICE 2 FOLDER IN THE PUBLIC HAND IN FOLDER.

Grade Nine Lesson:

Choose a rock band, funk band, jazz band, marching band, symphony orchestra, etc. that YOUR band instrument is used in.

(IE. Flute = Brecker Brothers, Saxophone = San Francisco Jazz Collection, Trumpet = Five Alarm Funk, Bass Guitar = The Mingus Big Band (Charles Mingus), Drumset = The Buddy Rich Big Band)

Please write a brief study on the band of your choice answering the following questions:

1.      How long has your band of choice been performing/touring/writing? Are they still together?

2.      What style of music does your band of choice perform/write/tour with?

3.      Who are the members of your band of choice?

4.      What is the instrumentation? (What instruments are used in your band? ex. Bass, guitar, drums, piano, maracas, zither, synthesizer and vocals)

5.      Who is the instrumentalist that plays your instrument in your band of choice?

6.      What is a well-known song by the band?

7.      Has the band won any prestigious awards such as a Juno Award, Grammy Award, Academy Award, or Billboard Award?

8.      Who are your band of choice’s INFLUENCES (who inspired the musicians in your band of choice?) (ie. Miss Rybinski’s influences include J.J. Johnson, John Legend, Regina Spektor, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans)

9. On Slide Two – the TITLE will be My Favourite Fruit is… and the SUBTITLE will be the name of your favourite fruit. Please insert an image of your favourite fruit into the slide.
